I am writing an essay and I am looking for references to cite. I would have loved to cite your Mockingbird comments.
I intend to keep reading your blogs.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-16293137.post-1126862687685541552005-09-16T19:24:00.000+10:002005-09-16T19:24:00.000+10:00I agree, and disagree (my usual stance unfortunate...I agree, and disagree (my usual stance unfortunately.) Recently I had cause to track down some old samples of student work from 1993 for a topic I was teaching. Like most English teachers, my filing (hoarding) is excessive, and I was able to produce a 'B' grade example from one of my past students. This essay was beyond my best students today. Same school, same type of kids, different course. Something's gone really wrong. And I think this new English course is heading in the same direction.pretty in pinkhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02688390606421109595noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-16293137.post-1126761754805969012005-09-15T15:22:00.000+10:002005-09-15T15:22:00.000+10:00I completely agree with you. I read Thompson's art...I completely agree with you. I read Thompson's article and immediately thought "this guy must live in dream land, or by 'the students' he means the two or three students who loved TKAMB". I also think the issues section of the VCE English study design is the most important, and I have also told my students that long after they've stopped writing essays about how responsible Lady Macbeth is for the events after King Duncan's death, they will still need to recognise when someone is trying to persuade them to their point of view.

I was planning to post my thoughts on the new English study design on my own blog when I got the time, but you've really taken the words out of my mouth. I think I'll just put a link to your blog in its place. Thanks!Nathttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13919291485459544921noreply@blogger.com
